Frequently Asked Questions About Medicare Therapy & Psychiatry in NJ
Does Medicare cover outpatient therapy and psychiatric services?
Yes. Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health services, including individual therapy, and family counseling,. However, Main Street Counseling does not offer medication management trough Medicare.
What will my exact out-of-pocket cost or copay be with Medicare?
Because Medicare online eligibility systems only provide baseline status and deductible details, we do not guess or provide upfront cost estimates. Instead, we run an initial eligibility check to confirm your Medicare status, and then we submit your first session’s claim. We do not bill you until Medicare processes that initial claim and issues your official Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
How do Supplemental (Medigap) or Secondary insurance plans work with Medicare?
If you have a Medigap or secondary insurance policy alongside your traditional Medicare Part B, we will submit your claims directly to Medicare first. Once Medicare processes the claim and issues the EOB, they will automatically forward the remaining balance to your secondary insurer to cross-over and cover some or all of your remaining out-of-pocket costs.
Do you accept Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans?
Medicare Advantage plans (such as Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare, Aetna, or UnitedHealthcare/Optum Medicare) are managed by private insurance companies rather than traditional Medicare. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, please complete our online intake form so we can verify if our practice is in-network with your specific managed care network.
